10/10/18 - Exeter Ladies 2s v 3s

Updated: Nov 9, 2018

2s side of the story:

The 2s had a very promising first game against the 3s on Wednesday. It was a 14-3 win and was great to see lots of different people scoring. Our second years Lucy Jones, Jessy Rogers and Annabelle Clancy all set the standards very high with their hat-tricks.

Lucy Jones and Maisy Abel played particularly well in attack and midfield, and were both voted as women of the match. In D special mention goes to Libby Gilbert who was a machine in goals! It was an excellent start to the season and we’re really looking forward to our next game on Wednesday.

3s side of the story:

Beginning the season as the Exeter underdogs in the EULC derby against the 2s was not the easiest start to our season, but we had nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain. The start of the match looked hopeful even winning the opening draw however the optimism soon died down as we tried to get some goals and only ever kindly passed the ball to their goalie. At half time we were 7-1 down, but we had got our first goal from Georgie Martin. The second half was more successful scoring 2 more goals but unfortunately also letting in another 7 ending the game on 14-3. Bonnie’s legs appeared from nowhere and was running lengths of the pitch coming as shock to the team considering last year she didn’t move further than a couple meters from the goal. The commitment to the match couldn’t go unnoticed and earned her Woman of the Match.

Congrats to Imogen Tyer on moving up to the 2s, you’ll be missed lots. See you back on the pitch for the rematch on 14thNovember.

MVP:

Bonnie Bartlett

DOD:

Georgie Martin for driving up a one way street on the way back from the match
